If I had it my way
I’d spend my weekend
reorganizing my home library
I’d pull them out one by one
forming a large circle
to which I’d lie in the middle
soaking up the wisdom
of the annotations —
the marks and scars
of those before me
even then in my introverted desire
I’m aware of the intimate invitation
to be called towards you
if a book is a window into soul
then why not meet soul face-to-face
