What if I never find the time
to read all of my books?
I’ll be okay.
They are much more
than words to be read.
I carry the author, editor, designer,
and previous owners with me
every time I pick up a book
or pass it by.
It lights me up in ways
I’ll never understand
and it reminds me that it’s okay
if I never deeply connect
with every person I encounter –
my presence is enough.
