What if I never find the time
to actually read all of my books?
I think it’s okay.
They are much more
than words on the page.
I carry the author,
editor, designer,
and previous owners
all with me
every time
I pick up a book
or pass it by.
It lights me up in ways
I’ll never understand,
and it reminds me that it’s okay
if I never deeply connect
with every person I encounter –
my presence is enough.
